Newspaper Club

I explained in my last post that I have been editing my newspaper on newspaper club.com.
After submitting and sharing it my newspaper has been displayed on the front page of the 'Newsagent' section of their website under 'Featured Newspapers'!

Mock-up For My Newspaper/Magazine

I have been very busy today working on my newspaper/magazine called Saccharine.
I am using Newspaperclub.com to print my newspaper.  On their website there is a program that enables you to create the layout for your newspaper.
I have created my chosen layout and placed my images where I would like them to appear in the final printed out copy.
I am actually using Indesign as it is far more advanced than the program on Newspaper Club, but I just wanted to make a quick mock-up so that I could see how the different coloured images looked like when they were placed side by side, also which coloured images compliment each other.

Vivienne Westwood and Irregular Choice

A while ago for a university project I was given the task to compare two fashion brands and compare them and create a presentation about how they are similar and also how they are different.
I chose fashion designer Vivienne Westwood and quirky shoe brand Irregular Choice which are two of my favourite brands.

More pages in my Visual Diary..

I have been busy adding pages to my Visual Diary.  I have become a little obsessed with collages.  They are my mini Mood-Boards for ideas for my newspaper project.   I have been adding anything and everything that inspires me, things I have found or seen and things I am interested in.

Psychedelic 60s!

'Saccharine' is the title of my newspaper/magazine which I am creating for my Fashion Communication project at uni.  Saccharine is an artificial sweetener.  I really wanted the content of my magazine to match the title.  I decided to make some bright, sugary and garish images inspired by the psychedelic era.
With the Mod inspired photos that I had previously taken I converted them to black and white.  I then printed off the images and coloured them in with marker pens.  I cut out the images and placed them on colourful, floral and patterned backgrounds.  These backgrounds were created by scanning retro tea-towels, scarves, dresses and fabrics.
Below are just a few of the images that I created.
Model: Sian Bott.

Mod inspired photo-shoot

I wanted to create a photo-shoot with a truly retro 60s style.  I absolutely love the zany, psychedelic patterns from the 1960s.  I have my own collection of vintage dresses, accessories and outfits from this era. I was also very lucky to find a beautiful orange and brown floral umbrella in a charity shop which I though would fit in perfectly in my photo-shoot.

My gorgeous friend Sian Bott kindly offered to model for me.  Sian has a retro style and a very short bob haircut which is absolutely perfect and fitting with the chosen theme.

I styled Sian's make-up and she wore some of my vintage dresses and jewellery which I had chosen to style her in.

We also looked at some photos of 1960s models such as Twiggy and Peggy Moffitt to get inspiration from their poses and facial expressions which were often used in 1960s fashion photography.

With the photos I have taken I am planning to use the same method in my Saccharine photos (in my previous post).  I want to cut, colour and collage the photos with floral patterns and fabrics in the background.

Saccharine

Here are some images I have created for my magazine, Saccharine.

Below:  I have stuck purple jewels directly onto the paper.  I wanted to images to represent a Hindu Goddess and I intended the big jewel to look like a Bindi, a mark on the forehead worn by Indian women.
